How much infill?
How can you determine how much infill is needed and how much is excessive?
Using simplyfy3d I have the settings shown in the picture, on the print itself it looks excessive. Is there a good starting point? Seems to use a lot of filiment

You are right. That object doesn't need much infill. In this case, you only need the infill to support the top layers. Maybe you can print it even hollow.
