help with printing large like a box object...

hello , i am trying to print this object on my prusa mk3s with PLA. I tried first with Prusa black galaxy PLA , and i thought there is some problem for me to find perfect settings in order to print it ok. But even with basic silver prusa filament i have same issues.

I cannot print even first layer properly ? i tried different combinations of settings like first layer high from 0.2 to 0.3 rest layers from 0.2 up to 0.35. Different temperatures from 215C up to 220 and bed from 60 up to 63. It start to print ok but when small rectangle area is printed and head turn and need to print on 90 degrees filament don't stick and instead on 90 degrees print it become like a egg.

More information : using smooth steel bed and it is perfectly cleaned- 99%IPA, i also cleaned it with dish washer and window cleaner and aceton. So it is really clean.

I can print 3D objects from other g codes and all looks great. Also i printed 2 more parts for this object and i printed it without problem.

I tried to use brim option but same bad result, also i print with supporters but same as without since problem is with first layer.

Tried to put also some special glue from prusa and put it on my smooth steel bed but same problem.

I  calibrated printer for first layer few times and it is all ok. Also using 7x7 mesh leveling for bed.

Using standard noozle 0.4.

any help and recommendation with setting is very appreciated.

THX

Hi, had a similar problem, one model wouldn’t print, others were ok. Turned out to be my error in the slicer: Model was positioned 1 mm above the bed!

Just to be sure: Check that model is flat on bed in slicer ( z=0)

i checked today.. and must say i don't understand how it is possible to place it incorrect on bed... Prusa slicer level object automatically so i get warning if i place it incorrect...

@mladen-du

Could you try tipping the model onto it's side, and then back again? that may help...

If a model is say 1 degree off level, it can have disasterous results... !

i thought if i move model way up that prusa slicer will automatically level it perfect....

thx mladen

@mladen-du

Prusa Slicer does not alter the attitude of a model, unless instructed

the cube above is resting on the build plate, but it will not print properly because it is slightly tilted

If you try to print it,  only a tiny bit will attach to the build plate.
but if you select the  face you can lay it flat using  the 'Place on Face', tool

It is difficult to divine all faults from a distance, but learning is still useful.

yep... sure it is.. i usually try to find fault by myself but sometimes it is ok to hear from other what they think what is a problem.

even if it is sounds too simple that it can be the problem sometimes it is easy too overlook something basic. i  don't print much, so i am still in the process of learning..  btw... maybe i can ask you one more question - do you think that my model is impossible to print in one piece?

maybe i must slice it ? did you ever print such similar object ? thx in advance...
