From PLA to PC: Ducted fan project
Hi guys,
concerned on debris ingestion that always show the extremely brittle nature of PLA do you have some suggestion on printing this geometry (ducted fan) in Prusament PC. The printing needs that there only perimeters (20+) in order to have 0% infill in the part (balance is essential).
Thanks for help

Nice design. PC Blend should hold up.
Any chance I could get a copy of that file? I would like to print one to make a fan / saucer rocket. They spin on the way up and down.

Hi thanks for help, i don't know why but i can't upload the stl on this topic (it was my original aim). I don't think it is the right choice for your rocket but i can give it without problems

Good Morning,
the forum does not accept most file types, but if you Zip the STL into a compressed file, you will be able to upload the Zip file,

If you are using this as a PC computer fan that runs at high RPM for long duration, an issue you will run into is elongation of the fan blades radially. Under continuous radial load, PLA will exhibit the worst creep characteristics.
You might want to leave more tolerance between your blade and the housing to account for it else your blades will end up hitting the housing.

Also print PC in an enclosure and put down a brim, especially on the long thin features like the blade tips or it's gonna warp like crazy. Part cooling fan off or minimal to increase part strength and reduce warping.

Or upload it to the prusaprinters.org files section and post a link. That design is a thing of beauty,
Thanks.

@print-my-world
Thank you very much these were the informations i was looking for, actually the impeller is a rc plane ducted fan. Something that has to spin from 20k to 45k rpm for 5 minutes flight so creep is a great concern a thank you to aware about this pla weakness.
Now i think i will print a fan shroud and a pinda probe support in pc to print the impeller in a safe way for my printer health, i do have an enclosure so i will take regard to keep temperature inside
