Flat surface bended during print

I printed several small objects with my new MK3, the supplied grey PLA filament and the standard slicing parameters of PrusaControl without any proplem extremely precise (construction objects) and smooth.
However when I started to print larger thin objects (100mmx50mm x 2,5mm thick) with flat bottom surfaces the object started to bend away from the heat bed on the right side about 1mm.
When the print starts, the first 1mm of layers are still sticking to the heat bed but later the right side bends upwards (see photos), but the flat part of the object sticks still on the heat bed.

Any idea how to resolve this issue? Different slicer stetting than standard?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Re: Flat surface bended during print

Hey:

I had that happen during a flat print like that after a few well adhered prints despite using IPA between prints. You should clean the bed with dish soap and warm water and try again. Assuming the file is not the issue, of course

I used a clean paper towel and squirted some dawn or palmolive liquid dish soap on it and ran the sheet under warm water and scrubbed the sheet with dish soap like I was washing a dinner plate. Both sides, dont touch it other than on the ends if you can and rinse it off and dry it with a clean dish towel. I put it back on the heatbed and did a quick IPA wipe and printed no problem.

The fact that you had well adhered prints leads to contamination of the print surface. I know it seems bizarre, but I know I was not touching the bed but I still had the item raise at the corners just like that in about the middle of the print. I stopped the print, cleaned the bed with dish soap and continued on.

edited to add pictures of my issue just like yours.

It looks/sounds to me like an adhesion issue.

Thank you for your cleaning proposal. I always used IPA to clean the powder coated bed inbetween the prints. Thought that would be enough. Now I will try out your proposal with dish soap.

Re: Flat surface bended during print

i only use window cleaner and a fiber pan scrubber to clean the plate.

For your print try a brim on the print and if that does not help reduce the bed temp by 10 degrees C and the hot end by 5 degrees C as a starting point.

IPA and window cleaner is good to use between different prints. But to get a good result, it is important that you have first cleaned the bed.
You only do it with detergent and hot water.

Acetone is an excellent degreaser as well, which is (I presume) why Prusa recommends it in the above links.
I use 91% IPA before every print, and Acetone when(ever) the IPA stops working (or doesn't work as well).
This protocol has worked great from day/print 1.

Re: Flat surface bended during print

What do the remaining 9% contain in your IPA?
Perhaps it is a substance that degrades the adhesion of the filament. Use only IPA 99.5%.

bernhard.c:

How'd that work out? You get it fixed? Did the soap and water wash get it done?

I noted Bernhard.c has a powder coated sheet from the pictures as I do.

I do not know how acetone works on the PC sheet, and would be interested to hear of anyone with the powder coated sheet using acetone to clean it and how it worked.

I cannot see how it would hurt the PC sheet, but from what I have read it's effect on the PEI sheet is excellent. Cant remember I have seen anything about the powder coated sheet. 91% IPA and dish soap for PLA and Windex for PETG works very well with the PC sheet...
