Re: First Layer Issue
Photo is a bit low res, can't really see what needs to be seen. Plus - this is a duplicate of your post ...

Re: First Layer Issue
The first layer is uneven and spotty. It seems like this should be more of an even layer.
New thread since I am getting a different result on the first layer attempt.
Re: First Layer Issue
It is strange. some places i see like a too low nozzle but mainly like a too high noozle.
Just my 2 cent:
- is the filament diameter constant?
- IPA cleaning
- lower first layer speed
- lower first layer acceleration
- preheat the bed for at least 15minutes to be sure there is no change between pinda measurements and the actual shape of the bed after printing first layer for many minutes.
Re: First Layer Issue
I ran the "Life" calibration found on this forum and tweaked the Z level a bit (not much, maybe .05).
I jacked up the first layer on the model to 200% hi and wide and slowed it to 25%.
I also switched (like I said) to white filament - honestly not sure if this could be part of the problem.
I am getting more consistent results...not perfect but no longer failing. Cleaning it more aggressively helped as well...

Okay ... but no clue what you actually mean ... 🙄 and guessing it sounds like a great way to make the print fail.
Re: First Layer Issue
Settings in Simplify3d for adjusting first layer printing. It helped for this particular model.

So 200% times 0.2 mm equals a 0.4mm layer 1 height. A 0.4mm nozzle can't print a 0.4mm layer. Whatever you are doing is not actually fixing anything, instead, it's just confusing the issue.
Re: First Layer Issue
Ok, so how about the 200% width and 25% slower speed?
Something about this model simply wasn't playing nice. Like I said, the cleaning certainly helped but I am not convinced after all this testing that the settings didn't need to be adjusted.
I am getting nice consistent prints for this now and am happy...if I could just get my other printer back up and running from a thermistor issue life would be grand! 🙂
