Elephant foot like effect on top layers of print
I printed a relatively large flat model (200mm by 74mm by 10mm tall) and there was a significant elephant foot type of effect on the top layers of the print. Probably all seven top layers. Starts out not so bad on the first top layer, then gets progressively worse for each layer. Looking it my other prints and running a few controlled tests, I can see that the effect is present on smaller models but to a much lesser degree. The material was AmazonBasics white PETG.
Checking my slicer settings, it looks to me like I have the fan configured to run 30% - 50% in my PETG profile. I could try increasing the fan.
I'm wondering if others have experienced similar and know of a cause?

RE: Elephant foot like effect on top layers of print
That large a print you will start seeing warp, and when warp causes a part to lift off the bed, it compresses upper layers and you'll start to get perimeter squish (for lack of a better term). Here's an example - about 220mm x 190mm - and note my PEI sheet was quite clean when this was happening.
RE: Elephant foot like effect on top layers of print
In this instance there wasn't any warp. I've experienced warping enough before, sometimes minor, other times severe enough that the upper layers of the print were completely trashed, that I know what to look for. I did have a brim turned on.
I wish I'd have taken a picture, but I've already cleaned up the print. I'd say the effect was on the order of a millimeter and it was uniform all the way around the top layers of the print. Only the solid layers.
@neophyl Thanks for posting the link, I'll have to read up on it.
