Dimensional Issues printing small cylinder horizontally (HELP!)
Hi,
I am printing a tiny cylindrical pin horizontally in order to increase longitudinal stregth
Nominal diameter is 2.7mm, here below you can see prusaslicer slicing results
with layer height 0.05
after printing the object is deformed along Z axis
Measuring printed object wit a measuring caliper I get :
Diameter along Y: 2,69mm
Diameter along Z: 2,85 mm
I checked similar issues about n° of layers I do not think this is the same case because dia 2.7 is multiple of 0.05 layer height
so no rounding should be done to the number of layers (am I right?)
Anyway is there any setting that I shall change to get a regular cylindric pin?
Thanks in advance for your help!
RE: Dimensional Issues printing small cylinder horizontally (HELP!)
there was an article a while ago, discussing hexagon cross section, in preference to circular section because of sectional instability.

RE: Dimensional Issues printing small cylinder horizontally (HELP!)
Printing small circular items with one dimension in the Z plane is tricky.
I would suggest tweaking things in PS under 'Object manipulation' by first scaling down the Z scale factor to 95% or so, print, then measure again or check fit, and then adjust further if needed.
