and here's the whole print.  -.300 seems pretty good.  should I do another starting at that number and work down more?

The good thing is that by -.300 the lines are completely fused together, not separate and hair-like

that's not looking bad from the top, what does it look like from the bottom? if you hold it to the light and look though it can you see gaps in between the layer lines? if so its not low enough.

Not looking forward to doing this process again for the ninjaflex.  I have that printing perfectly without strings on tape + glue

I wonder if that change from 230 on the first layer to 240 on other layers is doing it.   that's the generic petg profile.   The first layer at -0.3 goes down perfectly at 230C.  I'm curious if  if the 10 degree swing causes extra flow on those higher layers.  I can certainly try it.

I just ordered another spool, so I'm in it for the long haul.   Not that I particularly like this filament, I just want to see it work now.

So just as a test I took the square I've been using to calibrate the zOffset and I scaled it to 10mm high and changed the infill to 25% cubic.

I also had the nozzle temp stay at 230 for all layers instead of the generic petg which starts at 230 and then goes to 240.  I was watching it print and I stated seeing the the excess filament getting dragged around similar to what I was seeing when I tried to see the make-up pot.  I wonder if the offset is too low.  it seems like the nozzle might be rubbing and smearing just a touch.  not sure.  I stopped the print when I started seeing the excess filament strings getting dragged around.

I think I've found a setting that works.

zOffset up one tick to -0.298 and extrusion multiplier to .99.   and for filament, 230 from start to finish and bed 85 from start to finish.

about 48 min to go but looks pretty good.  cross fingers.

I print a lot of ninjaflex and I saw your profile, I can help with that.

@swiss_cheese

About to kick off print with the settings I printed the slab above with.   Cross fingers....

Re: the ninjaflex,  I'll definitely be asking questions when I get back to that.  I have a few other things the wife has in queue for me so I'll have to do this exercise with those filaments first though lol   This was a birthday present for me lol  But it it's become a second job lol   But it's been a great chance to learn more blender and I do enjoy learning stuff.

@swiss_cheese

I'm going to call this success.   I even printed it with 25% cubic infill.

Thank you very much for your help!   And in spite of my ignorance!  I feel this is very much a case that you taught me to fish.

Cheers!

I'm glad you were able to work it out, I tried as much as I could to keep checking in ,but I had to work also : ) I knew you would get it, and as you learn even more all this will become easier for you, and you'll use less material tuning in models. don't be shy to ask questions.

Enjoy

@swiss_cheese

You were a great help!   I've since printed another two of those with the same sainsmart material, in larger sizes.  this profile is working great!

I may hit you up again when I go to do the ninjaflex again.  but that won't be at least until next week.  just got some more petg spools in to print a shelf I designed for my wife so I'll be running through the zOffset exercise again to make sure those are dialed in.

Thanks again!
