RE: cant get print to stick on build plate

Instead of raising the bed temp, try putting nozzle temp to 220 for first layer and slow to like 10mm/s for first layer

RE: cant get print to stick on build plate

I redid my first layer calibration to see if that would help.  I just cleaned off the bed, applied some glue stick and I'm printing a cookie cutter. I watched as it was printing.  I didn't change any of my other temps yet.  So far, so good.  It's got 1.25 hours left and I'm thinking it may be sticking this time.  Keeping my fingers crossed (but sure makes it difficult to type lol).

Wash the print-sheet, DO NOT USE GLUE, it is intended to REDUCE adhesion...

Then do a first layer Z calibration and show us the result.

We will fix this...

Cheerio,

I agree with @Diem

A first layer calibration with a 75 or 100mm 1 layer(.2mm) high square would really help us see if your z offset is properly dialed in.

RE:

I have never heard that glue is supposed to reduce adhesion.  Everything I have ever read says it is to increase not reduce.  That makes no sense to me.  Even the directions in the book mention it for added adhesion.  I do use it on my other printer to help the prints stick.  It does just that.

But that being said, I am using 99% IPA to clean my bed.  Adjusting the 1st layer print seems to have pretty much fixed it.  I may have some find adjustments to make still, but thus far, it printed beautifully!   And my 1st layer setting is -1.250.

Glue does increase adhesion, and it should not be necessary for PLA on a Prusa printer with a Smooth PEI sheet.

I believe what Diem is trying to impart to you is that we sometimes use glue as a release agent for filaments that stick to well when printing, ABS on a Smooth PEI sheet for example. The reason it's considered a release  is because the Glue we use is water soluble, PVA in many cases. It can help with adhesion, but is completely unnecessary for your stated usage.

I'm glad to hear you got things worked out, Live Z adjustment is many times the answer. later you will learn about Windex and different types of products as you increase your repertoire of materials and skills.

Enjoy
