Y-axis problem, it stops
The Mk3S will ocassionally crash, and then restart printing in a completely different spot in the y-direction. I ran a selftest, which worked fine. But when I run a belt test, it will move backward fine, but then will either not move forward at all, or move forward a 1/3 of the way and then stop and crash the belt test.
I doubt it's the motor since it will do a full forward and backward for the selftest. Is it he hardware, is it the motherboard?
Any help appreciated, thanks.IMG_2017
RE: Y-axis problem, it stops
I had the exact same problem. I found the problem in the Y-axis linear stage bearings.
The double bearings on one side of the rails were dry and binding. I removed the bearings and lubed them to run smoothly on the rail and that fixed my crash errors and also improved the print quality.
what was happening is, as the base moves in the Y direction it was creating a twisting moment causing extra friction. The software interpreted it as a crash.
