Wires to heat block severed, what are my options?

So I am a dumb ass and didn't notice a minor leak above my heat block which ended up cooking the wire to the heat block.

I was going to replace the whole hotend wholesale to make sure everything works however I have been having a hard time finding it in stock and I'm not sure which E3D hotends are compatible with the Mk3 aside from the Prusa specific one.

Are there any upgrade kits I can get? is it possible to replace just the wires? I'd be worried that this leak would continue to persist if I were to replace just the wires though as nothing has changed in this machine since its original purchase back in 2018.

Edit: Also if anyone has any guides for replace or repair they would be greatly appreciated as well.

Best Answer by Chicago Keri:

I can absolutely recommend the E3D Revo Six.  It is a drop-in replacement for the standard E3D v6 that every Mk3 series uses.

The advantages to the Revo Six are really easy nozzle swaps, NO filament leakage, much sturdier wiring that would be very difficult to accidentally damage , less chance of heat creep and it stays tidier as well.

The disadvantages are that is is more expensive and there are only brass nozzles available so far, which are not good for abrasive filaments.

Whatever you get, make sure you get the 24v version for a Prusa Mk3 series.

Unfortunately it's almost impossible to join those wires once the block has been used.

I'm sure there will be plenty of suggestions for replacement hot ends but if the Prusa version has been working for you then a straight like for like replacement is probably best.

Cheerio,

Oooh, thanks for the tip on the Revo. I hadnt noticed that its drop in compatible for the Prusa, I'll definitely grab that since I have to pay the impot tax anyway.

I'm pretty sure the filament leak that cause this was from a botched nozzle change so the Revo system will definitely be nice for down the line
