Why the extruder makes this noise

Why this is happening? Anybody got an idea. I’ve just lubricated the rods but that didn’t help :/

Looks like its coming from the idler pulley from the right

@fernwehmind

I would control the drive/idler pulleys. Maybe the drive pulley is not screwed down correctly or the idler pulley is stuck or has defective bearings.

It almost sounds like there is something hitting the cogs on the belt, perhaps a wire or screw? Look at the back of the extruder carriage for anything out of place.

Make  with a piece of paper a tube, put it to your ear, and listen where it comes from!

Check if grub screw is loose.

Check if belt is rubbing against the sides, move extruder left to wright, keep checking the belt.

Check if extruder is not loose.

@peter-m26

I've listened to the noise carefully. It's most probably coming from the idler pulley. At least I feel so.

I've checked the grub screw and extruder carriage screws. They are tight enough.

I've checked the belt. It's not rubbing against the sides.

I get several Y-Axis crashes every print. But I guess this is nothing to with the noise problem.

It sounds to me like something (plastic by the sound of it) is rubbing on the teeth on the belt as it slides through the extruder.  Like putting a lolly stick in the spokes of your bike wheel!  See if something is sticking out in there, maybe even a misprinted part.

Look in the area I've circled in red (ignore the blue arrows):

Look for something sticking down and rubbing on the teeth of the belt.

If it's not there, then look for something similar anywhere along the belt's path as you move it...

I decided to look idler pulley by removing the x axis because i had problem with this pulley in the past. After removing the x axis i realized that the screws on the front of the idler pulley got loosened and pulley get dirty. I’ve cleaned with ipa thoroughly. I guess i have to buy another pulley for the next troubles.
