Upgraded firmware stopping mid print with a beep

Various prints have been stopping at various times. Haven't been able to complete a print since upgrading to the latest firmware. Finally witnessed the print stop, with a beep but nothing had gone wrong. A beep, then the nozzle moves to max x and y. No reset, but the LCD looks like you've just reset. I'm printing via octoprint but I don't think this is the problem.

I would first reflash the machine with the same firmware.

I would also print from SD to make sure it’s not caused by Octoprint.

If the problem persists, either get on the chat with Prusa, or downgrade to the previous version and file a bug report on GitHub. Certainly not normal behavior.

Thanks for your reply and advice. I tried printing from the SD a few times. Eventually witnessed in a more or less startup loop. Mid print, a long, loud beep, then restart, then (here's where sd-printing differs from octoprint) "recovering print." After heating it would print for a few seconds to a minute before another beep and repeat. After 5x I turned the power off. I wonder if it could be the motherboard. I've always had weird errors. Even with the two-year-old firmware I regularly find the printer with garbled screen, saying "SEC LANG" or something, either after sitting idle, or having stopped mid print with the print fan on full.

does this happens also with the sample gcodes?

@haley

”I’ve always had weird errors”. Now that’s new information. May well be the motherboard. Go to shop.prusa3d.com and get on the chat with Prusa support. Doesn’t sound like anything anyone on this forum can help you much.

Solved

The support helped me. Unplugging the power rescue trigger helped. It gets falsely triggered by something. Plugging the printer directly into the wall (no extenstion cord) should help as well they said. But i can't do that. Now it prints since a few days nearly nonstop without any problems.

No, my printer has remained broken after the update for many months.

That's great you solved it. Can you give any more info on the solution? Unplugging the power rescue trigger?

RE: Solution

The cable on the lower right of the PCB. Black and white. Power Panic. Just unplug it. Recovery after power loss will not work anymore but when printing with OctoPrint,  like i do it,  doesn't work anyway. And we never have power outages. Hope that helps! My printer works great again!

Oh thank you!

That has been driving me bonkers for months as has the fact that the reason for the power failure rescue feature has never worked is down to Octoprint.

Two birds with one stone, brilliant.
