UL Certification for Prusa i3-mk3

Hello everyone,

Would anyone know if the Prusa is UL certified? I found the CE conformity sheet at the end of the product page, but have not been able to identify any other forms of certification associated with the printer. Thank you for all your help.

The printer is NOT UL certified.  The power supply is CE marked, but when I last looked the silver model was NOT UL certified.  The printer essentially falls under the UNTESTED LOW VOLTAGE exclusion for any European standards.

Proof it isn't UL is the power supply has no dedicated electrical connection to the printer frame, nor bonding between frame components (attachments between painted surfaces aren't allowed for UL unless accompanied with an intentional bond method).

In North America at least, that depends on the certification class.  If it's going for the common consumer class II isolation (not class 2, that's different), the frame does not need to be grounded and the LV side is *required not to be grounded* in any way.  I think the odd lack of grounding is an attempt to please as many different jurisdictions as possible at once.

nle;wtrm: NEC is ambiguous on the chassis ground with no explicit requirement or exception.  The explicit chassis ground requirements are for mains and high voltage applications predating the wide use of low voltage / class 2 / class II.  Code merely says 'chassis must be grounded where otherwise required' and class II explicitly precludes the LV side from any connection to ground-- and since LV electronics are usually some combination of in proximity to the chassis, in contact with the chassis, or simply exposed, that strongly implies a class II chassis should not be grounded.

Corrections from a UL/ETL/Intertek technician welcome, I've often wondered about it.  Lots of 'experts' are pretty certain in conflicting ways, and their certifications (like mine) are usually 'I read the code/know what I'm doing/been doing this for 50 years' which isn't really good enough.

Hi, I bought you a printer but can't release it from the border because of they ask for a "CB TEST CERTIFICATE" in english. Could you please tell me how to get such thing send ASAP, else I won't be able to get the printer.

Thanks for your help,

joel.
