Thermal Model Calibration Confusion

Hello,

My MK3s+ was running Firmware 3.11 and I decided to upgrade to 3.13 today.  After I updated the firmware, the machine started performing a "Thermal Calibration"  It completed the thermal calibration, but I wasn't expecting it and am not sure I had it set up right for the calibration.

1) The spring steel bed sheet was on at the time.  Based on what I have read, I believe that should have been off, but I also read that there would be a message asking if it was on or off which I never saw.

2) It was in its enclosure, but the door was open.  Should the door have been closed?

3) There was PETG loaded in the hot end.  Should the hot end have been loaded or unloaded?

Thanka!!!

Thanks.  I read through that and many other posts, but none of them answered my questions around what condition the machine should be in when calibrating the thermal model.

Enclosure door open or closed?

Enclosure heat on or off?

Bed sheet on or off?

Material in hot end or not?

At least you can turn the thermal model off, but I ended up reverting to 3.11 last night since 3.13 wouldn't cal XYZ.

Well the article and the blog article linked within explain how the protection works. If you read it you should realize that the calibration is supposed to get to know your setup so it can work with it. As a consequence you should do it with everything setup as it would be when you print otherwise it would defeat it's purpose, wouldn't it?

I get it, but they could be more explicit.

The other temp cal specifies bed sheet off, the thermal protection cal doesn't specify on or off.

Some materials I print with the door open, others with it closed, and others with the enclosure ambient heated.
