Thermal anomaly and failed prints

Guys,

I recently upgraded my Mk3S with a PCD nozzle . During the install, it is recommended (required?) to heat the hotend to print temp, which I did. While I had an adjustable wrench on the heater block, during installation (rather than removal) of the nozzle, I got a beep and a "thermal anomaly" notification on the screen. Assuming it was from the metal-to-metal contact of the wrench sinking heat away, I didn't think much of it and dismissed it. The first few prints went fine after, and I really like what I'm getting from the PCD nozzle. But then, after those first few prints, I started getting that beep again, and the "thermal anomaly" warning on the screen, but it would continued printing, without any issues with the print, even if annoying. Then it started pausing the print, but allowing me to resume. Then, this last time I tried printing something, the print started looking really bad, and I noticed that the nozzle temp was dropping off significantly. At first, I thought it was all a sensor issue, but the filament is actually sticking in the nozzle, so I'm certain the temp is actually dropping. At this point, I can't get through even a small print.

Firmware 3.13.1-6876, although I'm fairly convinced this is a hardware issue, but I don't know where to start checking.

Thoughts?

Thank. Brad.

RE: Thermal anomaly and failed prints

Maybe get out your multimeter and measure the heating wires and thermostat wires on the hotend.
If there is a (shortest) disconnection it will give the ERRORTEMP error.
Maybe the connection is broke  (in my machine there is a JST connector on the thermosat wires, what fell apart a couple of times, giving same type of errors.

We will do what we have always done. We will find hope in the impossible.

RE: Thermal anomaly and failed prints

Hello,

Harshad here from Bahrain. We are facing the same issue with the MK3S+ Printer. At first, it was showing the error during prints only and then after some pause time, it used to resume the print. Later it became worse. Now it makes a loud annoying sound, keeps beeping and shows 'Thermal Anamoly'. I don't know the cause behind it.

My printer has the latest firmware 3.13.7 and I don't think it's a software error. My print temperature settings are default. Nothing is aftermarket. No extra parts.

Visual checks: The temperature sensor near the nozzle looks fine

Please suggest where to start. How can I resolve this issue? I cannot print even small parts.
