Terrible Y axis grinding noise
Over the last couple of months the noise the Y axis makes has steadily increased.
It has now reached an entirely inacceptable level. It almost sounds like some kind of power tool. Maybe a table saw...
Here’s a short clip:
I already disassembled the bed, cleaned and re-lubed the LM8 bearings with little to no effect.
Does anyone have a suggestion? Should I order new bearings?

RE: Terrible Y axis grinding noise
Looks like I was mistaken accusing the bearings.
After completely disassembling the bed again and running the Y axis with the bed mount disconnecte it turned out that the majority of the noise was coming from the front idler and some part of it from the Y motor.
Replacing the idler and re-tightening the mount of the Y motor seems to have fixed the problem now.
By that point I already had installed the linear rails upgrade I've been putting off for months though. So now it's quiet and has nice rails 🙂
