support material settings

Seeking some advice on PursaSlicer-2.3.1/Print Settings/Support Material values.  The settings I used here are shown in an attached screenshot.  It seemed to work pretty well, but as shown in the attached photo, I have these tight, 6mm clearance between shelves and while I can pull most of the support material out easliy, it leaves a residue of the attachments which is hard to clean out.  I wonder if the setting could be improved to help make the support material release more easily.  Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hmm, can you only attach one file?  Thought I attached the photo and the screenshot.  Trying again for the settings screenshot.

Drag individual pics in, add multiple with Add Media button.

You can batch upload images with the Add Media button above the edit box. Other file attachments must be zipped and can be attached to your post using the Choose File button below.

I don't think there's a whole lot more you can do. This looks like pretty standard support residues that I usually remove with an Xacto knife.

RE: 3D-Fuel Pro PLA

Thanks.  I am beginning to wonder about the PLA.   This "difficult" removal task is with a product from 3D-Fuel, Pro PLA.  I think it must be stronger in it's bonding than other brands I've used in the past.   This is a good thing in general, but the tight enclosure of the design brings this characteristic to the forefront.   Our product is a functional piece so the extra strength is a big, big plus.  I actually have not printed this part with a different media, so I'll do that next and see about the clean out.  I'll be back.

I haven't used that material myself but if it's anything like PLA+ I'm not surprised.

I may give PETG a try. It's my preferred material for functional prints unless I need the extra qualities of PC Blend, which I found a lot harder to work with (warping).

RE: support material settings

I've made some recent progress on this problem.  In beta3 of PrusaSlicer2.4 there there are some new knobs to turn for the support material print settings.  I can't seem to find any docs on the definitions, so I'm just trying out values.  I think the supports are releasing more easily with low values for "first layer density" and "expansion."
