Strange clicking or popping sound
Is anyone familiar with what would be causing a strange, random popping sound that is not the extruder?
I know its not the extruder because I have checked it up and down and watched it when experience the clicking sound and the gear is not slipping. My prints are turning out perfect. Also, the clicking noise sometimes happens when the bed is doing the mesh leveling and there is no extruding going on.
I feel like this should be a very easy fix but I can not pinpoint exactly where the sound is coming from but it is driving me crazy.
RE: Strange clicking or popping sound
If the extruder Bondtech gears are not properly centered, or the tension is too high, the filament will flex and twist as the printer moves around, and when it does, it 'snaps' and makes noise.
A good test is to unload the filament and start a print ... if the noise is still there with no filament, then start looking at cables, and loose end cable ties, bearings that are too loose, too tight ...

Thank you, I will give that a shot.

Hi i had that, but found that i had too much tension on the adjusting screw.
backed it out 1/2 turn and was ok

So, it was the Bondtech alignment. I carefully aligned the gears and it doesnt do it while extruding or doing the mesh leveling, like it was. However, strange enough, it now does it on retraction. I will have to take another look at it, but none the less it has drastically improved from the constant snapping sound it was making throughout the entire print. Thanks for the info.
