RE: Sporadic ticking sound while printing

No issues with the print so far. Doing two of the sample object galaxy wheels as the other spool of this filament would cause failures between sometime during the 3-4 hour mark regularly. Pre fan swap I did a 14 hour print with a glow-in-the-dark PLA that had no issues.

That is one of the reasons I have been at loss to the cause of the ticking. I would have assumed it would be more consistent and occur during heatup phase (preheat or otherwise) or happen on all layers, not just 2-4.

I can get a photo of that this afternoon. And I am not sure if that is corrosion or filament. The blob I has was a dark grey filament (Prusament Gentleman's Grey IIRC).

https://imgur.com/a/KGjMvCO See album for photos of board connections and hotend during ticking. I unplugged/replugged the connection and ran thermal again. Ticking happened at the end of R[15] section after fan speed spun down a little through rest of the test. That gave me a thought, could it be the fan motor at certain speeds? This would suck as it is a brand new fan, I also had a little trouble getting it installed into the right position, the exhaust port didn't want to fit in to allow screw holes to align.

Confirmed fan, started another test print. on layers 2-4 it slowly ramps up to 100% speed (per Prusament settings in Slicer). I manually increased speed to 100 and ticking vanished. At least I ordered 2... I doubt replugging would help try and fix this one?

I may do that. Thanks for your help. I will look at the hot end a bit further as well. If that is corrosion, would you recommend cleaning or replacement?
