Slic3rPE - set maximum unsupported bridging?
I couldn't find a way to set the maximum-allowed-unsupported-bridge. It seems that the only option I have [or have been able to find] is to support all bridges or support none [on one print i did it tried to span a 5" bridge... didn't quite work :)]. It'd be great if I could tell slic3r it is OK only span *short* bridges [in my setup, it looks like 1/.4" is about the longest that it will reliably bridge without supports]
Re: Slic3rPE - set maximum unsupported bridging?
You might try the Slic3r adding a Support Enforcer block where you want supports. Generally, you add the enforcer but don't enable supports. Seems bassackwards, but I've read that's how it works (use the block once in a while, don't use the enforce feature much).
Using the support block/enforce feature is much easier in the 1.42.x aplha/beta releases.
Re: Slic3rPE - set maximum unsupported bridging?
I can do that, and I haven't tried the machinery in the new version of Slic3r but it was pretty arduous in the previous one. The trouble for me is the amount of work if I have to do it by hand. If I turned off bridge supports here are about 100 "too long" bridges in my model . If I left bridge-supports on I'd have to block about 80 short ones. I guess I didn't miss a 'bridge length" setting in the config.. alas. Thanks!
Re: Slic3rPE - set maximum unsupported bridging?
80 blocks would be tedious, even in the beta version; but easy to try: download the .zip, and copy the contents in a user folder somewhere - Public/Documents and then open the exe from there. No install needed to play with the code.
