Slic3r PE - Grouping Copies of Models Closer?
Hi, when printing copies of a single model I tried using the copy and arrange functions but the result is a ton of wasted space on the build platform. I've been digging around in settings to find anything to adjust the distance between each part when using the arrange function but haven't been able to find anything.

If you turn off the "auto center parts"in configuration, preferences menu you can move the parts about as you see fit.
perhaps that will help?
I find that adding new instances of the part to the build plate as opposed to adding copies lets me arrange them individually to maximize space via rotating and such....
Strange women, laying in ponds, distributing swords, is hardly a basis for a system of governance!

Thanks, I've already played with that setting - helpful but not quite what I was looking for.
A better way to ask my question is if I placed a single file on a build plate, made copies of it and pressed arrange the distance between the parts is vary too great.
Then if I continue adding and press arrange, then it just arranges outside of the platform and throws a warning.
What I'm really looking for is a way to decrease the distance between parts that have been copied to maximize the number of parts on the plate. Slic3r PE seems to have this set to around 5mm before it begins to place new copies outside the build area.
Currently I am making arrays/plates of copies in CAD software and then importing to Slic3r as a single body...its kind of annoying and cumbersome.

What version of Slic3r PE are you using?
You need to ensure copies are separate from the original. Especially important are models with multiple shells. I've seen Slic3r PE "lock" duplicates before, and splitting the part knocked the copies loose; but right now my 1.41.2 isn't doing it.

I'm using 1.40.1 PE
I've tried importing a group array of separate files and that works but It takes a while to assemble in CAD software. I would rather just import and duplicate a component, then adjust the distance between the models with a setting...but it doesn't look like there is one.
Found a recent thread of people looking for the same thing I am. They have been calling it 'Arrange all spacing tolerance'
From what I have found it isn't a function yet but its being looked at.

Upgrade to Slic3r PE v 1.41.2 and the problem should vanish. The only thing you can't do is rotate parts individually.
