Self Test Error - X Axis
I have a MK3s. I bought it assembled. It has been printing great for months.
The other day after a successful print, I went to start another and the printer could not calibrate.
I went into the calibration wizard to do a clean fresh calibration. The fan check went well. The X- Axis calibration then fails.
The directions say check the manual, but I didn't see any troubleshooting help there.
Please help
Thanks,
Paul
RE: Self Test Error - X Axis
Gently push the X axis from one stop to the other. Is there any binding that is confusing the home-detection logic?
RE: Self Test Error - X Axis
Thanks for responding Dan.
Nope, the axis seems to be moving freely.
RE: Self Test Error - X Axis
Does it move at all in the X axis during the calibration?
RE: Self Test Error - X Axis
Yes, it moves over to the farthest right point (as you are looking at the machine) then declares the error.

@dport7
Few things to try.
Are the grub screws on the X axis motor correctly installed and tightened?
If one is not on the flat on the shaft you could be getting a slip on the motor shaft when it hits the RHS and thinks X is longer than it is. I had a similar issue on another 3D printer recently.
Either that or belt is too loose (Or maybe too tight) and skipping teeth when it hits the RHS.
That's my theory on this one (I could be completely wrong though 😀 )
Tank you very much!
RE: Self Test Error - X Axis
I am having a similar problem. I have been printing good since I bought it and put it together myself. I haven't used it in about six months and when I went to print, it was not calibrated correctly. I did a self test and the fans are fine, when it goes to do the X axis it moves from the left to the right and it seems to have a very slight hesitation right when it gets to the exact middle of the frame and then back to the left when it gives me the X axis error.
One suggestion that I saw was that maybe the rods needed to be lubricated, so I ended up cleaning the rods and relubricating them but it still has the same error and the same slight hesitation when moving from the left to the right. It does not do it when it moved from right to left though.
Any help would be great.
Thank you.
