Second SD Card Failure

My original Prusa Supplies 16GB Card has been working since day one. I have somehow gone through 1 16GB ScanDisk card and 1 32GB Lexar card. Both randomly claim they need to be formatted after I have used them for 15-20 prints.

I have tried two different computers, and three different SD Card reader. Every time I attempt to format them after being prompted that they need to be formatted, it says format failed.

Any ideas?

Check your wiring, it sounds like something is sending lethal spikes to teh SD cards from the printer.

I had the same problem. The SD card slot was defective. I bought a new LCD board and the error was eliminated.

select the one "for MKS Board".

I am going to order two new cards. They will be the 16gb cards found here. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FQMWTGK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3FM56HUALOR9M&psc=1

The correct format is FAT32 Correct?

I just got the printer less than a month ago. Is there any type of warranty on something like that? Seems a bit unrealistic that I'd have to pay for a new screen when I just received the printer in the first week of December.

Look at something like this:

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3345508

Support has been very good about covering similar things under warranty. Chat with them:

Click EShop above, log in, then the Chat button will appear (eventually) in the lower right.

Also do not use Windows to format your SD cards. Use only the formatter from the SD Card Association:

https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/

As in most things, Windows does not know best.

I did download and try to format the last card that failed with that software. I have two new cards coming in next week. I am going to format them using that software and see if they fail too. Only then can I be sure that the printer is the problem causing the cards to fail.

Thank you all for the advise. I will keep you all posted. Unfortunately, I will be away for work from Monday-Friday afternoon. I do have quite a few prints lined up for Friday. The printer will probably be  printing 24 hours a day all weekend.

Is there a proper procedure to remove that card from the LCD screen that I may be missing?

RE: Second SD Card Failure

Never remove the card while the printer is printing...

Absolute safest would be power off the printer before changing the card. Not saying that is needed.

Other than that, no. Do be careful to put the card straight in. That socket is pretty weak.
