What are you trying to accomplish?  Reading an SD card from the USB port?  I'm not sure that will work, it's setup for serial communication.  Why not use the SD card slot?  That's what it's for, mini-SD and micro-SD in an SD adapter work.

Okay, im going to go out on a limb and say you want to use a usb to sd card adapter so yoj can plug the usb apdapter into the computer and plug the sd card into the adapter because your computer doesent have a sd card slot. If so then thats fine i do it all the time

OK, let me rephrase my question. The MK3s only takes an SD card. I would like to put all my g codes on a USB Flash (thumb) drive but that will not directly plug into the MK3s. So, will there be a problem if I use an adapter to accomplish this? Now I have to say I haven't even been able to find this type of adapter but I'm sure there is one out there somewhere. I made a mock-up

There are plenty of sd card to USB adapters but I have never seen one the other way around.  I think you are going to be out of luck. 

I'm sure it could be built if you know how to code and wire stuff up but a commercial one doesn't seem to exist (from what I can search)

Personally I use one of the Toshiba Flashair cards, which is a wifi enabled sd card.  I can just drag files from my computer to the card and print them.  Not made any more but you can still pick them up.  You want a 32gb or less variety if you do go down that route.

PTFE stuch in heat sink

The PTFE tube (& filament) will not come out of the heat sink and I'm not interested in screwing with it I'll just buy a new one. Question is my heat sink has a threaded end that screws onto the heat block and the new heat sink on the parts page does not show this little threaded nipple. If I am to reuse that nipple how would I remove it without damaging the threads?

Well, never mind about that little nipple. I put the heat sink in the toaster oven and easily unscrewed the nipple and removed the PTFE. But in doing so I melted the little collet that holds the PTFE, but not to worry, their cheap! I think I'm good now.

You might try researching the parts that consist of the extruder as well as the correct assembly procedure.  Pictured is your heatsink, and the threaded section that is sticking out on the right is the heatbreak. 

That is a separate part.  That screws into the heatsink and has a bit of high temp thermal paste to aid heat transfer.  It is thin tube so you have to be careful not to bend it.  If you do then it will need replacing. 
That assembly then screws into the heater block.  The heater block holds the heater cartridge and the thermistor.  It also holds your nozzle. It is vital to get a correct seal between the nozzle and the heatbreak.  So you will have to clean off all that burnt plastic anyway if you want to reuse it.  If you are fitting it to your new heatsink you will also need to acquire the correct rated thermal paste.

Assembling it properly is absolutely essential, as if you don't, you WILL get plastic leakage.  And you will be back to stripping it down and cleaning off burnt plastic again shortly.

You will have to heat it to at least the filament vicat temp otherwise you wont be able to remove the heatbreak.

My laptop doesn't have any SD slots, micro or regular. I just use a plug in adaptor, under $10.
Of course, the sexy solution is to get a Raspberry Pi and run Octoprint. That lets you use your network to send files to the printer
