Ringing noise during prints
Hi folks,
Since I bought (1.5 years ago) my Prusa MK3s I hear a ringing noise during prints. It seems they are appears only on x axis movements. I discussed this with the prusa support and they sent me an new extruder motor. But replacing the motor was not the solution.
Last week I replaced the whole extruder with the Bondtech upgrade extruder. I hoped this would solve my problem. But the ringing noise is still there.
See video:
Please help to find out the cause and how to fix it. Thank you

RE: Ringing noise during prints
I found out that the ringing only occurs if the hotend is not cold and it disappears if I push the extruder a little bit downwards. But what causes the ringing?
RE: Ringing noise during prints
I listened to the video a couple of times and to my ear, it sounds like a fan blade is contacting something. That might also explain why it only happens when hot as the fans are normally off when cool. My first guess would be the extruder fan. Perhaps a tiny bit of filament stuck in it?

RE: Ringing noise during prints
I have all parts cleaned before the installation of the new Bondtech extruder. There is no contact between fan and hotend and no filament.
I loosened the tension of the x axis belt a bit and checked it with the belt status. The ringing is now a little bit quieter and happens not so often than before.
RE: Ringing noise during prints
Hi I found the problem in the extruder fan. After removing it the ringing is away. 🙂
At the end of the video you hear the other fan. Typical problem. This fan type is not suitable to get installed in an angle.
I ordered a new extruder fan because the fan blade is very loose.
Thank you Jerry for the hint 😉

Glad you found the problem and happy printing 👍
