Replacement E3D Hotend

This is what I woke up to this morning (see attached). The worst fail (and I've had many) since getting our MK3. Hot end heater and thermistor cartridges are destroyed. I'm struggling to figure out what actually happened here. I'm used to the spaghetti mess when things fail. This looks entirely different. Also confused how the filament worked it's way up into the hot end assembly.

I'm looking for a complete hot end replacement kit. I understand that the E3D hot end was manufactured specifically for the MK3, so an off the shelf E3D V6 would not be a good drop in replacement.

Can anyone help me locate a proper replacement kit from a distributor (ideally in Canada)? I'd figure that the Prusa shop would have this, but apparently not.

hope you didn't messup the wires. heat up and pull plastic off slowly. I had a glob like that (well not that massive) but I still have some pla on my temprobe wires

I have a Prusa,therefore I research.

try a hot air gun and forceps or Kelly clamps or even BBQ tongs to keep your hands out of the hot air; work slowly and methodically with care you can save the hot end most of the time from this sort of thing.

Thanks! I'm confused if I need the 12V or 24V, direct drive or bowden. Am I right that I should be looking for the 24V direct drive? https://3dprintingcanada.com/collections/e3d-online/products/official-e3d-v6-all-metal-hotend-1-75mm-24v-full-kit

You have to be signed in to your prusa account to see that page use the live chat they will ask you when you bought your kit and give you access

you can access the live chat 24/7 in the lower right corner of and prusa store page have this photos ready to show them they might make it to the worst blob of the month 😯 Or give the person that does your chat a pointer to this thread 😉
if you get the Prusa version yes 24 volt, you won't have ant wiring problem as it will have a proper length of wires to reach the controller. if you want to use the Canada dealer make sure he is sending you a hot end configured (wired) for a Prusa M3 that is call them and talk to them and explain your needs if you are not used to hacking about in electric/electronic hardware unless you want a new hobby to add to the 3d printing.
