The enhanced properties of ASA do come at a cost.
So spend the money when it's needed, resort to cheaper (not lesser quality !!!) filament types for the majority of your other prints.

An even better option is Extrudr Greentec Pro (Carbon version if you can use a 0.6mm nozzle and non-carbon if you can't).

HDT: 115°C
VST: 165°C
Printing temperature 230°C, smooth PEI sheet @60°C - really easy to print.
and the most rigid filament I have found in all my research.

the heat protection is a must for me as i like printing petg and asa and have melted way to many fan shrouds

Same experience and that is why I have several partial rolls of ASA that have put in the dry box for printing just fan shrouds.

Hmm.  makes me want to print a fan shroud in this ABS-T.  Supposed to be better temp resist.  A nice green fan shrowd.  Anybody got a link to the 3mf or STL for a fan shroud for a MK3S?  (not plus)

ABS on average from brand to brand has better heat resistance then ASA, ASA offers some measure of UV resistance that ABS only offers when Black ABS is used. they are very close in heat resistance though, averaging around 93C for ASA and 98C for ABS

There are a few remixed ones in the Prints section.  The one I currently use is this one below, printed in PC Blend.

I printed both the stock one and the remixed one before tearing the printer apart, and made the decision which one to use in real time while doing the replacement.

any of you guys tried the mk3s+ version yet, it looks different and seems to be supported in both ends which might help with keeping it in shape

I'm using the + version. It works fine for me. But you need more MK3s+ extruder parts to mount it.

I use the MK3s+ mostly  for printing PETG  and PEGT HT (@ 270 C) and haven't had any problems with my PETG HT fan shroud.

I've been curious about the Colorfabb HT Clear, as they have been claiming that it produces superior results when printing transparent parts.  I just haven't gotten around to trying it.  Here in the States, Amazon does carry some of the Colorfabb line, but the last I checked they did not stock the HT Clear.

I have printed + shroud for one f my printers when I replaced the Pinda.  I do like the support on both sides.

I printed for about 3 months before the warping started to cause printing problems with standard PETG. Keep an eye on it.

Thanks Chuck.

That's $50 to the door here in the US, a bit spendy for a spool, but if it really helps in transparency of certain items it would be worth it.

I'll probably ask if anyone has used it in another thread and not hijack this one any more.

I would still recommend ASA for fan shrouds.  The HT is a bit more expensive and not as readily available.

HT works well for fan shrouds. I have a spool I use for not much else. Definitely a bit pricey, but it is not obnoxious to print with and heat tolerance seems excellent. It's like a tricky PETG to print with.
