Printer stopped printing

Hi all,

I have run into a weird issue today: I was printing a model when I noticed it stopping after an hour or so, followed by a beep. I went over to check on it and it was showing a temperature error for the bed on the display. Sure enough, nozzle and bed temperatures were dropping sharp (as if it was cooling down). But the print was nowhere near done and the nozzle just stayed on the half-finished print.

I let it heat up again to PLA temperatures (which it did normally), unloaded and reloaded the filament. This also worked as expected. To be safe, I also cleaned the area around the nozzle while the filament was out (there was some PETG leftovers on some points from yesterday's printing, I suppose).

Then, I restarted the print and kept an eye on it. It would do all the things normally (homing, calibration), but when it would actually start to extrude the line in the lower left corner, it just stopped there. The SD% on the display would increase rapidly. I hit the reset button and turned it off after a bit of cooling.

Finally, I have run the self-test from the menu. Everything shows up as OK. I have also tried one of the bundled models (the Batman one) after the calibration to be sure, but the issue is the same.

In case it is relevant, the printer's firmware is 3.1.3-245.
Sadly, I am not that experienced with the internals of 3d printing, so I stopped there and was hoping one of you handsome gentlepeople have an idea.

Thanks in advance,
Manuel

Re: Printer stopped printing

After some investigation, a friend and I noticed that the heatbed's thermistor cable broke, likely due to the tight cable tie and the constant motions. (In my defense, I ordered it pre-assembled, so I am not feeling too guilty about that.) We've managed to replace the cable with a spare one and that fixed the issue. Now the filament sensor stopped working, but that's an issue for another day.
