Printer making grinding noise and filament does not stop while loading to nozzle

Hi, i had a jam and things were a mess so I changed nozzle and reapplied thermal paste checked everything out and it all looked good. Ran the wizard and it did all checks and all was good there. I tried to do a first layer calibration and the axis does not move and it just flows out a pile of filament in one spot . Tried just loading to nozzle and it grinds a bit and filament just keeps coming without asking if right color is there. Then it stops and red light on MMU starts flashing . The allen key seems tight enough and on flat face and seems to be aligned . Tried tightening and loosening tension screw . Tried loosening body screws . Nothing is working . Could a sensor be bad ? I tried everything I can think of .

Thanx

Uh. Difficult to help since your post is a bit confusing...

I tried to do a first layer calibration and the axis does not move and it just flows out a pile of filament in one spot

Which axis is not moving, where is that spot exactly, is the extruder motor moving while this happens, what about the motor on the MMU?

Tried just loading to nozzle and it grinds a bit and filament just keeps coming without asking if right color is there. Then it stops and red light on MMU starts flashing

Which motors move doing that? Is the red light on the MMU flashing fast or slow?

Could a sensor be bad ?

Yes, this might be caused by a miss calibrated IR sensor. Did you check? https://help.prusa3d.com/article/ir-filament-sensor-calibration-mmu2s_2245

The extruder is not moving. It is in left corner as it starts . Yes the motor is turning. I know it is confusing . I'm confused as to why .

Tried just loading to nozzle and it grinds a bit and filament just keeps coming without asking if right color is there. Then it stops and red light on MMU starts flashing

The extruder is trying with noise . I am guessing the MMU is also pushing . the light is fairly fast.

no I didn't check it there as it shouldn't have moved any .

Thanx for reply. I am running in and out today  so can't work on it . Hate having it broken .

That definitely sound like the IR-Sensor not triggering correctly. Recalibrate it, make sure it works reliably. This is not as easy as it sounds, take your time, get it right.

If it is not calibrated correctly, so much as touching the extruder can result in erratic behavior like you described, let alone changing the nozzle...

You are correct as far as I can tell. I think there is a problem with extruder idler . I am asking a friend to print me a couple versions. The only way I get it to read from 0-1 is without tension bolt attached. I did try a new sensor so I know that is working . Old one was fine.
