Printer is LOUD
My printer is way louder then anything I have seen online about the MK3S. I just built it a week ago and am not really sure what would contribute to it's loudness. I am not really sure how to diagnosis this issue because idk what is making it loud. Whenever the gantry has to move far fast (like one side of the bed to the other side), it makes a pretty loud noise. Also, I am pretty sure the bed's motion is also generating noise.
RE: Printer is LOUD
I will listen in on this one with interest. Mine is loud but only at certain places and speeds. But not consistently e.g. hand move bed horrid grinding noise at back end of X travel (nothing from Y axes when moved by hand). Printing slow is almost silent on X but fast retraction on Z and the start that grinding noise. Bearings checked for alignment, rods for smoothness. everything cleaned and light greasing done.
RE: Printer is LOUD
Possibly dumb suggestion, us Pronterface to move each axis independently to find the offender?
RE: Printer is LOUD
What surface is it sitting on? Is it quieter sitting on a solid floor? If so, you need a more solid base for it.

@bobstro
It is sitting on an ikea lack. I realize that isn't the quietest surface but I didn't think that would create this much noise.

Solid idea. Will do it and will update.

I think you'll be surprised. The Lack is exactly the sort of surface that will resonate most as it has little mass. Stefan from CNC Kitchen has a new video on the topic you might enjoy.
