Print Fan Error.

Printer is about 1 month old and started getting "Print Fan Error" when the print head goes all the way to the Right. I believe I have a break in the cable couple of inches after it comes out of the printer head. I tie wrapped the cable harness coming out of the control box so it would not flex at the connector and it did not seen to help. I tiewrapped some chopstick to the part where I thing the break is and it did improve the situation but still fails. I have written Prusa to see what they can do for me. I am going to do a continuity check and see if I can isolate the wire and do a quick splice in the meantime.
Anyone else having this issue or am I just lucky?
Update. I was able to find it. Just after coming out of the extruder housing the black wire was broken internally. If I flexed it the continuity would cut in and out. I spliced in a new wire and it fixed the problem. Until today I had not printed anything that need the entire X stage. It only failed on the extruder was on the right hand side. If you pull on the black wire it peels away like a banana skin.

Re: Print Fan Error.

I had the same issue, print fan wire broke where the pinda wire and the extruder wire meet. Support sent me a new fan and I installed it. It's pretty simple to replace.

Re: Print Fan Error.

Un do the wires and check to see if anything is broken. If a wire is broken to the point that it's coming out of the jacket it can create a lot more issues than the fan just not working. You can short the wire and cause more damage, maybe a small fire.

If the wire is broken you can solder it back together. Just make sure you put some shrink tubing around it when you're done.

Well pooh, started getting the same symptoms, removed the fan before testing continuity and 2 of the wires are bad. Since so many people are having this problem I'm wondering if they used a solid wire instead of stranded? Stranded would hold up better against a lot of flexing.

Does anyone know where to get replacement fans besides Prusa? My MK3 is less than a month old so I'm hoping they will replace it but I suspect this is not going to be the last time this happens.

Re: Print Fan Error.

Strip the insulation, count the wire filaments in one conductor, if the number is low, say 7, replace the wire with flexible Silicone insulated wire with more filaments... make the joints in the section of cable that is held still by the cable ties so there is no strain on the soldered joints and hopefully you will be back in business.

dont forget to insulate the joints
