PETG Stuck to My Powder Coat Bed
I have a Mk3 with a new powder coated steel sheet. I started a print tonight with PETG and on the first layer I saw that the layer was way too low. It was more a micro thin layer that you could only see because it changed the reflections of the powder coating, so know it is super thin. It would not come off at all. So I decided to keep on with the print to build it up then pull it all off. I got it up to about 2.5mm and let the sheet cool and it would not come off for anything. Not a budge. I started to heat up the bed to 40-50-60c , nothing helped. I got it up to 90-100c before i could start getting the PET off but it still left a rough mess as you can see in this picture. What can I do to get it all off??
RE: PETG Stuck to My Powder Coat Bed
You could try printing over it with a higher Live-Z (less negative) setting. With any luck, when you peel the fresh print off, it'll pull most of the stuck stuff off. It does look like some of the texture came off unfortunately. Do check out Jeff Jordan's "Life Adjust" procedure for calibrating your Live-Z as it is much easier to use and understand than the on-board routine.
In the future, spritz the sheet with Windex or give it a few wipes with your fingers before printing sticky stuff like PETG. I also recommend starting your Live-Z adjustments high (I raise mine up 0.6mm when unsure) as it's better to be a bit high than grind the filament into the sheet.
