Joan, the firmware updater has been merged into Slic3r, so look there to find that functionality.
Re: Drivers 2.1.7 with Slic3r PE 1.40.0
Thanks Eric, I will look there too!

Re: Drivers 2.1.7 with Slic3r PE 1.40.0
Me too; installed new drivers 2.1.7 on Windows 10 (build1803) and Slic3r won't launch; all the other apps launch okay, tried uninstalling all apps and re-installing as administrator but still Slic3r won't run. Tried to run it from directory C:\Program Files\Prusa3D\Slic3rPE but still not working.
Have reverted back to 2.1.6 until the developers can sort it out.
Re: Drivers 2.1.7 with Slic3r PE 1.40.0
Same here, works fine on my Mac, but not on my Windows 10 computer. Disappointed that it should work. Was it tested?

Re: Drivers 2.1.7 with Slic3r PE 1.40.0
I am using 2.1.7 on Win10, on two laptops.
Had problems finding Firmware updater, Coz I didn't read the Release notes! 😳
I have a gaming Laptop, which has given me problems in the past... haven't used it recently as it's too heavy to cart around following my stroke...
but the video drivers on that PC seemed to conflict with a number of software packages also Win10

Re: Drivers 2.1.7 with Slic3r PE 1.40.0
better not update then, to be safe?
Re: Drivers 2.1.7 with Slic3r PE 1.40.0
Hi guys,
the Windows build was tested on Windows 10 and Windows 7, no issues were discovered during tests 😐
I tested it myself on Win 10 and Slic3r was running without any issues.
Can you please send me your slic3r.ini file?
It is located here: C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Slic3rPE
We already working on it 😉

Re: Drivers 2.1.7 with Slic3r PE 1.40.0
Well, I have sort of got it working; so I reinstalled 2.1.6 then extracted just the Slic3r PE 1.40.0 from GitHub into the Slic3r directory.
Launched the app it came up with some issue with the existing config and prompted to run the set-up wizard after which it worked.
Not ideal but a work around until the developers can sort out the installation process.
Re: Drivers 2.1.7 with Slic3r PE 1.40.0
I've done a fresh installation on Windows 10 1803. Works perfectly on my machine.
Re: Drivers 2.1.7 with Slic3r PE 1.40.0
I have uninstalled everything Prusa, deleted all related directories and registry entries re-installed as admin and it still doesn't work.
As requested here is a copy of the ini file:

Re: Drivers 2.1.7 with Slic3r PE 1.40.0
Okay, I have tried this; Uninstalled everything AGAIN; installed Drivers 2.1.7 all works except Slic3r PE 1.40.0.
So I reinstalled the Slic3r component from 2.1.6 and it (Slic3r 1.3.9) worked I then extracted Slic3r 1.40.0 from GitHub and unpacked it into the Sic3r directory.
The shortcut from ver 1.40 doesn't work but the shortcut from Slic3r 1.3.9 does eventually launch 1.40 (I got a prompt from windows saying its unsafe to launch, but I launched anyway; presumable as the app wasn't registered as installed in windows) and after Slic3r 1.40 starts I got the prompt to run the wizard after which all is working fine (except the icon for 1.40)
The answer may be that the shortcut for 1.39 has a target of "C:\Program Files\Prusa3D\Slic3rPE\slic3r.exe" --DataDir "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Prusa3D\Slic3r settings MK3 216"
Were as the shortcut for Slic3r 1.40 has a target of "C:\Program Files\Prusa3D\Slic3rPE\slic3r.exe"
I'm assuming that the data path is missing from the launch Icon of 1.40
Re: Drivers 2.1.7 with Slic3r PE 1.40.0
I'm assuming that the data path is missing from the launch Icon of 1.40
No, shortcut is fine. This version starts "normally" like all other programs, so shortcut is correct, it should be:
"C:\Program Files\Prusa3D\Slic3rPE\slic3r.exe"
But, data files are not longer in c:\Users\Public\Documents\Prusa3D\.
As a result we can finally transfer model from fusion 360 directly to slic3r 😀
Re: Drivers 2.1.7 with Slic3r PE 1.40.0
> I'm assuming that the data path is missing from the launch Icon of 1.40
No, the Slic3r 1.40 uses the default datapath, which is
"C:\Users\your_user_name\AppData\Roaming\Slic3rPE" or "C:\Documents and Settings\your_user_name\Application Data\Slic3rPE"
depending on your windows version.
You may try to delete or rename the Slic3rPE datapath directory described above, and start Slic3r again. You may also start Slic3r from the command line:
open command line window (start cmd.exe)
type C:\Program Files\Prusa3D\Slic3rPE\Slic3r-console.exe
Slic3r may print out some hints on the console as of why it is not starting.
You may also type
set SLIC3R_LOGLEVEL=5
on the command line before starting Slic3r-console.exe
to get more detailed log of what is going on.
Thanks for help,
Vojtech
Re: Drivers 2.1.7 with Slic3r PE 1.40.0
All well here with functionality... 🙂
...but...
Obviously, some configurations have been write-protected, like start- and end- gcode...
Manually changing the relevant config-file results in errors - using notepad and notepad++...
The only solution is to manually save another profile - adding to the cluster...
...so...
Any plans to lift the write-protection, or can you give the instruction on how to edit the relevant files to implement our own flavour?
...and on second thought - is there a way to have PrusaControl use Gyroid-Infill instead of rectilinear?
Cheers!

I modified my profiles in 1.4 beta, I'm assuming the final release is the same in that you need to save it as a new profile with a different name than Prusa's. I appreciate this as I always have a solid base profile if/when I F anything up.
