Optical filament sensor issue. An interesting issue
I apologize if this is a repeat post, seems like it might be.
This is an interesting issue I've come across. I have two MK3S' when I first put them together the autoload feature would not work on either of them so I just turned that feature off and decided to troubleshoot at a later date. Now, I've disassembled the extruder assy. and found this when I was putting everything back together. The issue was the sensor on both printers kept giving me a state of "1" when there was no filament in the extruder, now I see why. does anyone have any solutions to this particular issue?

I had this problem yesterday, so i lifted the sensor and put a bit of filament between the sensors, it worked, so i knew then it wasn't a sensor fault.
I stripped down the extruder to the point of the magnets with the ball-bearing, for the filament feed.
To see the ball move but the magnets stayed put, i found that the screw holding one magnet was too tight, i slacked off the screw, tried filament again, to see the magnets move close together, and seperate when i took out the filament.
I put the extruder back together, and i now have a fully working mk3s with auto filament feed now working.
Sometimes its the simple things that cause the bigest problems.

On mine the sensor was screwed down too tight. Not super tight just tight enough so it didn't move. But this was too tight. Quarter turn back and although the sensor can move a little it works. Worth a try. It's only the top cover to take off and you can watch the results on screen in the support/sensors section.
Fingers crossed that's all that's up.
