Odd Cracking Sound

I am hearing a odd cracking sound when the extruder moves left and right on the E-axis. Everything I found online led to people who had extrusion issues. My prints are fine so none of those suggestions helped. I further narrowed it down by removing the filament, powering off the printer and manually moving the extruder back and forth and I can still hear the cracking sounds. I made sure the bolts were tight on X carriage back. Is there something else I should check?

Are your bearings dry and you're hearing the balls clicking together? If so, try adding some lubricant as per the user guide

Thanks, I will give that a shot.

If that doesn't work, could it possibly be the black nylon twisting in the back of the extruder? I will try to push that in further.

Couldn't hurt to check.

Also, don't forget to check:
1. The pulley grub screw is still tight
2. The bearing in the X idler.

Did you ever solve the cracking sound?
Was it a bearing needing lubricant,
a ziptie needing to be tucked in,
the pulley grub screw,
the bearing in the X idler
or something else?

I am hearing an odd crackling sound while printing on my new MK3S.
