Novice woes
I have a brand new Mk3S+. In a fit of idiocy, I tried to upgrade the nozzle to nozzle x. I am sure that nozzle x is a fine product, but I am also sure I botched the job. I did a series of first layer calibration tests, which eventually produced an acceptable result. I printed a very nice benchy (I would post a picture, but the cat has been chewing on it). When I ran a PID calibration test, I got a THERMAL RUNAWAY error code. Looking at the nozzle, I see a small mass of melted PLA plastic that seals the nozzle to the hot end.
I can not get the nozzle to unscrew. I don't really care about voiding the nozzle X warranty. I want it off. Do I just accept that I need a new hot end, or does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the PLA off of it? I've tried heating the nozzle to about 250, and had no joy.
Thanks in advance.
If you heat the nozzle up to 285 you shouldn't have a problem getting the PLA off and the nozzle out. I'm not a fan of the Nozzle X myself but this sounds like an assembly problem, not anything nozzle related. The key is to have the hotend assembled properly so that there's a small gap between heater block and nozzle when the nozzle is tightened against the heat break, and the nozzle is tightened at 285 degrees.
