No longer printing correctly in X/Y
My MK3S has worked perfectly for several years but now it is having problems printing correctly - see attached image of first layer PLA on smooth steel sheet. At first I thought the filament wasn't adhering to the sheet correctly, but I have replaced the sheet with a brand new one - the adhesion is improved, but the first layer is still terrible. The Z calibration looks fine for the first section with the single line, but the small area at the end comes out looking like the attachment.
If anyone can help me figure out what's wrong I will be very grateful, thanks!
RE: No longer printing correctly in X/Y
Is everything mechanically OK with the printer? When did you last successfully print a part? What ‘happened’ between the last successful print and the first error image?
RE: No longer printing correctly in X/Y
Thanks for the reply. I think everything is fine mechanically - the Z calibration tracks correctly in X and Y, it's just the solid fill bit at the end which looks like the above image. Nothing happened between last successful print and now, literally - I think it has been idle for 9-12 months.
Your first layer Z offset calibration is probably too high - run it again and tweak until the postage stamp sized pad is smooth. Nozzle wear means you have to redo the calibration every few months and, of course, when you eventually replace the nozzle.
If you are unsure, show us the calibration print *on the print sheet*
Cheerio,
