New Prusa with X-Axis Problems
Hi all,
I recently purchased an assembled i3Mk3 and after a few prints it failed (X-axis layer shifting), crashed, and now the X-axis can't recover despite recalibrating. I've disassembled and reassembled the X-axis belt and housing how it's described in the instructions but there isn't any change. At first I thought the belt became uneven (the top of the belt was tighter than the bottom) but no beans, the motor occasionally halts. I linked a couple videos below showing what it does and I'd appreciate any guidance on what this is. Thanks in advance!
RE: New Prusa with X-Axis Problems
Your X axis carriage is not sliding freely,
try moving it by hand when the printer is idle!
It's jamming about halfway across the travel.
look for reasons why this may be happenning.
could be lack of lube, on the bearings, bearings jamming overtight X carriage backplate...
something getting in the way!
I try to make safe suggestions,You should understand the context and ensure you are happy that they are safe before attempting to apply my suggestions, what you do, is YOUR responsibility. Location Halifax UK

@joantabb
That was it, thank you so much! It just needed grease, I'm surprised at how often it needs applied but I'll be more attentive now.
Thank you!
RE: New Prusa with X-Axis Problems
Note: Greasing the rod is not greasing the bearings. Grease seals are named that for a reason. They keep internal grease in - and external grease out.
Look for any of the many posts on how to clean - and pack with grease - your bearings. Don't over-tighten the bearing mounts either. Those U bolts are treacherous.
