Need help with printer resetting.
I have had my Prusa Mk3S for two years. Two weeks ago I started a print but for some reason the print head locked all the way to the right and kept pumping filament. It made a big glob of plastic and when trying to remove it I broke the hot end thermistor wires again. I bought a pre-assembled hot end from Prusa and installed it. Now the printer won't pre heat. The bed will heat just fine during the self-test but when it gets to the hot end test it re-boots. It also re-boots when I manually try to pre heat it. I have checked all connections and plugs they are all correct as per Prusa specs. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.
RE: Need help with printer resetting.
If the printer resets when the nozzle heater starts to heat, I would consider unplugging the heater connector and trying again.
If the next time the heater starts, you get a different error message, (Probably Thermal runaway) it would suggest that the extruder heater is faulty
Did you get the correct 24 volt heater? if you accidentally got a 12 volt heater, you will be overloading the power supply... which may well cause a restart...

RE: Need help with printer resetting.
I checked my order and the pre-assembled hot end is supposed to have the 24 volt heater. I have no way of knowing if it is correct.
RE: Need help with printer resetting.
If you have a multimeter you can check the heater resistance.
If you don;t have a multimeter, the option of starting the printer with the heater disconnected will give you an idea as to whether the heater is the problem
as explained above

RE: Need help with printer resetting.
I tried unplugging the heating element. It went to pre-heat and when the bed reached temperature after a minute of holding bed temperature it gave me a "PREHEAT ERROR" but that was all.
RE: Need help with printer resetting.
but when the heater is plugged in, and you start a print, the printer resets when the heater is switched on...
that suggests that there is a short circuit on the heater wiring / assembly.
Please check the heater wires are not exposed and touching, or crushed. if you have a different heater it would be a good idea th try swapping the heater.

RE: Need help with printer resetting.
It is a new unit, I can't see any damage to the wires anywhere. It must be a faulty heater. I presume I should contact Prusa about this.
RE: Need help with printer resetting.
I would use Prusa Chat, available on the Prusa Shop page, the chat window appears about five seconds after the page loads
