Multiple issues updating firmware to 3.13.0
With positive community experiences updating MMU2S with MMU3 firmware, I decided to take the plunge and update that and my Mk3S to 3.13.0
First attempt got me Thermal Model errors immediately when heating nozzle. Searched and found that I need REVO specific fw; got that and installed, same TM failure.
More searching, found that factory reset (erase all data) was needed. Did that, but then when attempting to load filament for the filament sensor check in the calibration wizard, the extruder would not load the filament. Attempting to advance the extruder via the Settings screen also does not advance the extruder. Nothing I do can get the extruder to advance or retract. Filament goes through easily, able to be pushed by hand all the way to the nozzle and extrude. It's like the extruder is getting no power at all.
I've tried flashing firmware to 3.12, 3.11, 3.10 (which I think is where I started).
I am getting the following messages on the screen at startup:
"external SPI flash XFLASH is not responding. Language switch unavailable." - this needs a click of the knob to dismiss, and Octoprint gets stuck connecting until it's dismissed.
After that is dismissed, there's an invitation to "Printer has not been calibrated yet. Please follow the manual, chapter First steps, section Calibration flow" _ this seems like there may be a relationship to the extruder problem, like there's a null where it's looking for extrusion settings and won't enable the extruder without it. Or maybe not.
I cannot proceed with any further calibration as I can't load filament for first layer calibration.
This was a fully functional printer before I flashed the firmware, so I'm hoping something stupid in settings is wrong.
The most recent fw build I tried was E3DREVO_fw_MK3S_MK3S+_3_13_0_6873 from Github. I'm running the Revo hotend (non-high-flow) through Octoprint 1.9. Symptoms are the same if I unplug OctoPi from the printer.
Thanks in Advance
Erik
RE: Multiple issues updating firmware to 3.13.0
I also have had issues since updating to the newest firmware. I wanted MMU firmware upgrade. After I did the firmware upgrade, my Mmu worked amazing, but the printer started to have errors with y crashes. It was not happening before the upgrade. So not sure where the problem is. I have replaced rails and bearings. Things seem to roll fine during that upgrade time, better than when I started, and yet still have y-axis crashes. So I have the belt and motor left to replace as I see it. Check all wiring first, then belt then motor. Can’t think of any other “repairs” to get this working like it was. The above entry having issues downgrading makes me not want to try going back.
