Motor screws, safe to remove?

I would like to print a little bracket to attach to the rear of the x-axis motor. Is it safe to remove the 4 screws on the back side of the motor, as in this picture...

so i could use those screws to hold the bracket to the motor? i dont want to use the screws on the front as they are securing the motor. i also dont want to modify that bracket, as i think it should just do its job of holding the motor to the z-axis rails.

so ya, just wanna be sure i can remove the screws for a minute and the motor wont fall into 1000 pieces.

No there are fewer that 1000 parts in these stepper motors... 😀

the screws are sunk in fairly tight recesses, so re using them is probably out of the question.

question, Do you really need to undo all four screws? using 2 or 3 would allow you the comfort of retaining 1 or 2 screws to hold the case together...

In reality the component parts usually fit well together, so if you are careful, you should be able to remove all four screws, and use longer screws to fasten your bracket on over the back plate.

thanks Joan... yes, 1000 may have been a SLIGHT over exaggeration 🙂

Good point on not needing to do all 4 screws. having another look, it may just be easier to design a snap-fit type design that will just hold around the edge of the motor with tension. then, no screws need to be removed at all. if the fit is realy tight and they arent meant to come out, then id rather not.... screw.... with them.

but, thanks for your feedback either way.

the screws will be moderately tight, it's the gap around the screw heads that I was referring to, being close or tight, there is not room to model screw pockets into your bracket, so that you can re use the same length screws

I would model the bracket such that the screws clamp both the bracket and the back of the motor to the body of the motor

I agree with Joan that a snap fit will be your best bet. Take a look at this thing. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2543380 I put it on my MK3 and the front screw plus rear clip keeps it in place. It was actually pretty tough to get into place, so I know it isn't going anywhere.
