MK3S+ Z axis goes down mid print

Hi! Recently I have been having issues with my Z axis, when I´m printing ABS everytingh goes perfectly fine for the first few layers, but for some reason I can´t find, when the Z axis reaches a random height it drops by about 1 or 2 layers, and starts printring onto the existing print making it fail.

The problem is not the print curling up and grabbing the nozzle as you may think, is the nozzle itself going down a couple of layers and ramming into the print.

Anyone knows what may cause this for me to check?

I´ve already unplugged and plugged everything, changed Gcode twice, changed the SD card and I´m now considering doing a factory reset, just in case it is firmware related issue.

Thanks!

Hey! Finally solved the issue with the Z axis!

I had to unplug everything from the Rambo and clean it with IPA!

I think the problem was a lose conector that may have been doing something bad in the microcontroller.

And also, I looked behind the LCD and saw a Fysect brand on it ( I thought it was an original, since it came with an original extruder assembly and an original Rambo board, and also I trusted the a bit too much the guy that sold me the printer) so i went to talk to him and admitted it was a clone he had to buy to keep cost down in the printfarm he had.

But since it is now working fine and it was incredibly cheap I can´t complain too much.

Thanks for everyone time and hope you have happy printing!

This is very unusual, it implies that the Z axis reverses direction for some reason.

It might be a corrupt g-code but that would usually be repeatable - can you leave a camera running then edit to just the few moments when the reverse occurs and post it here?

Does this hapen with multiple models or just the one rogue?

I think we were all hoping to see what the printer was doing when that happened...

RE:

Yes I know what you say, the extruder assembly ( motor and fans bought from AliExpress from fysect) had to be changed due to some problems I had with it ( it was a second hand printer I bought here I my city from a shop that closed down)

This must be a clone.

Probably a fysetc.

What's on the back of the display board I don't know.

Should that not be FYSETC you are dealing with a clone of a fysetc clone.

For more info on the brand name and products click here .
