MK3S firmware detected on MK3 printer
I'm trying to print the parts to upgrade my MK3 to MK3S, and I updated the firmware to the latest release(3.10), and I got the message at printer bootup that "MK3S firmware detected on MK3 printer", and when I try to print anything, the printer goes through the usual calibration bounces (I'm set to 3x3 not 7x7), and then it forces me to unload my filament, insert filament, then goes through calibration, unloads, etc. etc.
What am I doing wrong? I'm trying to print the PETG version of the updated extruder housing, and I'm stuck.
Any suggestions?
Thanks-

RE: MK3S firmware detected on MK3 printer
Did you load the MK3s firmware on your MK3?
That will not work as far as I know as these printers have different filament sensors. That would explain the loading and uploading.
RE: MK3S firmware detected on MK3 printer
I went with the only option that was available (the oldest one that would work). I have the filament sensor for MK3S. I'm wondering if it's possible to swap them and see what happens? Any thoughts or suggestions? Any concerns?
Thanks,

RE: MK3S firmware detected on MK3 printer
Update - I just went through my old archives and found an old firmware from 2018, and was able to re-flash my MK3. I'm up and printing. I need to re-calibrate, and then I'll get to printing the MK3S parts.
Cheers,

RE: MK3S firmware detected on MK3 printer
I did the same.. and now when I want to go in and reset to the correct firmware the flash fails with a message "see AVRDUDE"
not a computer guy here so..no clue??

Are you sure you have a Mk3S? sounds like the firmware detected the old optical IR sensor and thinks you have a Mk3. If so, you flashed the wrong firmware and need to flash the Mk3 (Not S) firmware
