MK3 z-axis stuck at top
Mk3 firmware 3.14.0
I have that printer since 2016 and it always worked great. Last print is from last week, the printer was off since.
Today I wanted to print a file, and when launching it, instead of going home and do the bed leveling routine, the z-axis went all the way up, doing a "brrrr" sound went hitting the top. I pushed the reset button. Then when I turned it on again I went to settings > move axis to try to lower it. I could only go up, and I was already all the way up.
I turned it off again and moved the z-axis manually all the way down. Then I tried the calibration wizard but it failed at the z axis check. You can see the process in the video below.
The Pinda sensors seems to work.
What should I do ?

chances are that the signal wire is broken in the wiring loom, the
if you hold metal near the bottom of the pinda, the red light at the to should go out, which I belive it does.
is you look at the sensor status on the LCD Menu, the pinda status should change in time with the Red light on the pinda,
Chances are this does not happen
the signal wire is the link between the pinda and the controller that makes the status change value...
the chances are you can repair the cable as in the diagram above,
Mk3 and late Mk3S pinda's have 3 wires, early Mk3S has 4 wires

Thanks JoanTabb, you are right, the led of the Pinda was working, however the value was stuck at 1 in the support menu.
I wiggle the pinda cable while watching the sensor value until I found the spot near the insertion in the extruder enclosure. I gutted the cable jacket and found the weak spot on the black wire, made a solder and hid everything in heat shrink tubing and all is working again!
As you suggested it would be wise to replace the whole cable properly. I needed the print done so I opted for the lazy way to fix it quickly.
