Re: MK3 Power Supply Clicking

Add me to the list of clicking Power Supplies. It only happens when the Bed heater turns on and off (probably to keep the temp stable once it's reached it's goal).

Re: MK3 Power Supply Clicking

Same issue as posted by other users - light clicking from PSU, seems to be related to heat bed power cycling, house lights on same circuit flickering (110V AC, brand new house to code), etc. This is my second PSU with the same problem. With the latest Firmware.

Latest from Prusa - See "PSU Sounds" in this article - https://www.prusaprinters.org/original-prusa-i3-mk3-2-months/

They say the printer is ok to use but couldn't tell me if a new PSU would fix the issue (after all it's already my second). They are working on a new PSU available in June/July that will hopefully fix this problem (and others).

Chris, where did you hear there was a new PSU coming and how do I get my name on the list to get one? This clicking and especially light flickering is driving me nuts!

Live Chat. They told me to be patient rather than sending me another PSU that will probably have the same issue.

Same noise here..... Support just tells me it's normal. It's louder than the entire printer.

I made a video of the sound:

Re: MK3 Power Supply Clicking

Any update on this? I have this issue too, and as if that isn't bad enough, I can see the lights in the room almost imperceptibly clicking and a few minutes ago I realized that when I have a speaker/amplifier set up turned on with nothing going through it that I can literally hear the effect of the power switching on and off on another floor of the house. No doubt this is at least partially due to it being an older house, but it's highly concerning (because this power supply is iffy and now I think I should probably call an electrician...)

Anyone here have the capability to see how dirty/noisy these power supplies are?

Re: MK3 Power Supply Clicking

Just built mine, also getting soft clicking.

But compared to my prior printer, it's silent.....

I am looking forward to a resolution on this as well.... The clicking noise has gotten worse as time has gone on. It is very annoying and yes the loudest part of this printer.

Same loud clicking coming from the PSU here as well. Just finished assembly today and it is really loud and super annoying. Just talked with a customer service rep and they gave me the same line about a _future_ firmware update will likely fix the problem. We'll see I guess... 😐

Re: MK3 Power Supply Clicking

Completed my build today and have the clicking issue. It is by far the loudest noise the printer makes. It is so distracting I put the Mk3 in my garage. It's a shame, I would have liked to have it on my desk. Oh well, at least the space isn't empty. I'll just keep my Flash Forge there for now.

Edit: I updated to 3.2.1 but the clicking persists, even though this tweet from Jo suggested it was going to be fixed in 3.1.1.

Re: MK3 Power Supply Clicking

Being in the U.S. I was expecting some issues, but I haven't heard a sound yet from mine. I do have it on a heavy duty UPS though. I'm expecting some issues once the MMU 2.0 comes out and we have to power that also.

Brand new-pre assembled printer today - friend and I both received ours today - we unboxed his first, everything was great, super quiet and no clicks.

Got mine home, unboxed it, notice PSU clicking immediately.
I also have an issue where the printer sounds WAY louder than I think it's supposed to?...

Particularly towards the end of the video.

Re: MK3 Power Supply Clicking

+1 on clicking the power supply.

Just completed assembly and pre-flight of my Mk3 and ran 3 test prints w/o the issue. Turned the unit off for a few hours to have dinner. When i returned, i powered it back on and then hit pre-heat for PLA and started a new print. The pre-heat was quiet but once the print started the intermittent clicking started from the power supply. after the first layer was done, the clicking stopped. Will try to grab a video if i hear it again.

Re: MK3 Power Supply Clicking

Just finished my MK3 kit today from a mid-June ship date. Can confirm clicking on the PSU. And it isn’t just a minor click. It’s loud! Click is in sync with the red LED on the bed. When it gets up to temp, it will stop for 30 seconds or so (along with the light) until the bed drops in temp enough to start heating up to the target again. Tried plugging the printer into a lab-quality power conditioner and the issue persists.
😕

Clicks in sync with bed heating on week-old MK3 here too 🙁

Re: MK3 Power Supply Clicking

Just checking in to say that this is still an issue. I saw a video someone posted above, it might not be coming through but I can ALWAYS hear the clicking of the power supply, even when doing high speed infill or quick movements it is still louder.

So far my experience with prusa has been paying extra for an assembled '''''calibrated'''' printer, whose bearings were grinding on arrival (which doesn't sound like shipping damage to me... QC where you at?), then emailing back and forth with support for a full three weeks before any movement was made on either replacement or repair, and then the replacement one had a hotend clog a few days after resulting from the 'lip' in the hotend discussed elsewhere on this forum. Now the thing works (?) but the clicking still persists and the inconsistent extrusion problem that JP referred to in Tom Sanladerer's recent video is apparently being worked on but the blog post is now a week late. And still waiting for those powder coated sheets.

I'm trying really hard not to be salty, but damn.

Re: MK3 Power Supply Clicking

ive got my printer for a couple of months now and did not have the heatbed clicking, i have just done the latest firmware update to 3.3.3.0 and suddenly i have that clicking. first i thought i had a broken heatbed cable, and i hear the sparking, since it always clicked when the led went on. i did not think of the PSU, since my PSU is outside of an enclosure, and i had my head near my heatbed, it sounded like it came from there, but it could have also been the einsy enclosure, i will have to check again.

Re: MK3 Power Supply Clicking

yeah, checked it again, it is definitely not from the PSU. i made a video with my enclosure closed, filming the heating heatbed, and the PSU not clicking. then on the next heating cycle ive opened the enclosure, and you can clearly hear the heatbed clicking. i am still not sure if it is something from the einsy, since when i put my ear against the 90° c heatbed ( 😮 ) it sounds like its localized around the heatbed somewhere, but a clicking mosfet on the einsy would make more sense. sorry for the potato camera and microphone

Re: MK3 Power Supply Clicking

Have had the same clicking since I build my kit. Relieved to see I'm not the only one. Posting so hopefully they find a fix.
