Mk3 Hot End Thermistor Removal

i have found that my hot end thermistor is broken. and i know it needs replacing (is that my responsibility or prusa's?) anyway i took a quick video showing my issue with removing it. anyone have any other thoughts before i get the rotary tool out and remove about 1mm from the interfering portion of the hot end to ease the removal?

Update: i did take the rotary tool to the offending section and the thermistor cartridge slid right out. and after using the multimeter right at the probe end I determined that the actual thermistor is fine and its the wires that are at fault (shocking, i know). so i've stripped back a section with good continuity and will solder in a new set of wires tomorrow morning and get everything buttoned back up. video below shows the small notch i made with a ball-end cutting bit. took 2 seconds.
