MK3 Crash Detection Layer Shift / Lost Steps

Hello All,

I would like to ask the massess how everyone is going with the crash detect feature on their MK3.

I haven't had good experience with a detected crash re-homing to the same co-ordinants as before, primarily on the first crash of the print.

Please note, most prints if printer is calibrated shouldn't trigger crash detect but it is very possible at higher Z and with the default speeds we're now pushing. So this is in regards of ensuring proper function for this case by inducing crashes.

I have been toying with a solution but as I don't hear much from the over 90,000 customers online I am wondering if something else is a miss.

I have tested primarily on 3.3.0 but also on the latest build 3.3.1

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Re: MK3 Crash Detection Layer Shift / Lost Steps

I have had a few crashes using 3.3.0. Some of them were false and a couple were genuine but in all cases bar one the print continued without any shifting to completion. The one failed print was due to the object being printed having curled up so much that the print was unusable and not any fault of the crash detection and recovery. A second copy of the item at a distance on the bed solved that problem and although it had a couple of false detections in the new print it completed to perfection.

Martin
