MINTEMP HOTEND fixed then reset then blank blue lcd

Hi Guys after a factory reset after receiving a MINTEMP HOTEND fixed error on a 3 month old MK3s, my printer will not calibrate and gets stuck in the calibration phase bouncing the hotend on the bed with a blank blue LCD - anyone else experience that.

I spent over an hours with support - in short I will replace the hotend thermistor and see what happens after that

Soluion - but error message is misleading

it so happens that I did have an extra thermistor - I quickly replaced it - all is well - see the pics of the bad thermistor - the wire was broken as I suspected. - What I wasn't aware of - is the odd errors that I a encountered when resetting the printer, because I refused to believe the wire would be broken on such a new printer. The error message is also misleading - NOTHING is fixed automatically like it would lead you to believe.

RE:

Glad to see you got it sorted.

They say you can’t repair the wires in the thermistor and that you have to replace it, which you did, but (I think) that break is far enough away from the hotend that you might be able to solder it and seal it with silicone shrink tubing.

Worth experimenting as you’re just going to toss it anyway. I know I’d give it a go. If there’s a good reason not to try this, I’m sure someone will chime in.

Cheers

I think that is a good idea, i will hold on to it as a backup in case I need it to get me through something, if another one goes. I am more interested in knowing how these things break so easily, you think they would have a solution for this by now. Silicon wires or something.

Idk, I think if you’re careful during assembly (I built my MK3S+ from the kit) you shouldn’t have any problems with the wires, unless it got kinked when installed.

I imagine over time the constant movement of the extruder could weaken the wires, but your pic looks more like a kink than a strain. Here’s hoping your replacement lasts a long time!

Be sure you ran the thermistor cables above the heater cables per the build instructions!

Cheers
