LOST HOME !

Hi All,

HELP HELP !!

My MK 3 has lost its home, i have tried everything.
I have ran the wizard have ran the self test and have manually moved it into position but it keeps jumping towards the middle abut an inch, even if i use the auto home it differs each time to the position it ends up.
The knock on problem im having then is that when calibrating XYZ the head goes so far to the right that the sensor misses the build tray.

I bought the built up version so wouldn't expect any problem with belts or anything else.
I have so far used around 3 kg of material so not much usage.

Any help would be grand.
Chris

Re: LOST HOME !

Hi Chris. Do you have the latest firmware loaded on the printer. ?

Does the X carriage travel all the way to the left when homing.

There is no physical end stop sensor. So if the x axis jams/stalls early. It may assume that to be home.

Extruder cable bundle or zip.ties touching main frame

Re: LOST HOME !

Hi Joan,

Thanks for your reply.
The firmware is 3.1.3 , and having bought the built up package i cant see bolts being too tight.
I have tried again this morning and it failed again on XYZ for not finding location point on the front right.

I have checked for any obstructions in the way getting the head to go all the way to the homing point and there doesn't seen to be any problem, when turned off it slides easily.

If i click HOME a few times after manually putting it home then it still starts to move right about an inch.

Thanks ,l
Chris

Re: LOST HOME !

Some people reported that tightening the 5 X carriage screws at the back of the extruder to tight can cause bearings to deform creating higher resistance that the printer reads as end of travel. Try loosening these screws slightly.

Also check if you did not swap the X and Y motor cables on the board.

[EDIT]
Also is it just me or the extruder wire bundle looks wrong?

If you try and take a cat apart to see how it works, the first thing you have on your hands is a nonworking cat.

Re: LOST HOME !

Hi chris
It still looks like yourx carriage is not moving smiothly to the left of its rails.
Rather than discounting things because it was built up.
Why not look at the situation from the point of view that it is not doing what it is expected to do so something must be wrong.

Then look at what could give the problem you are witnessing
And work through them correcting anything you find that is out of spec as you go

Your issue might result from a combination of little problems.

Re: LOST HOME !

Hi Joan and CG,

Thanks for spending the time to help me out.
I spoke with Richard on live chat we diagnosed the fault being a dodgy pinda sensor, they have sent me a new one in the post.

Looking forward to fitting that once it gets here 😯
